ŠTĚPÁN KESNER / LEAN AND PERSONAL SOFTWARE

Connecting Lean,
data and software.

At Magna, I worked on Lean, digital audits and savings reporting. I also build my own applications — some grow out of practical needs, others from exploring AI and 3D.

04 / MY WORKFLOW ON HERMES

I customised Hermes for my own video studio. Agents and scripts on one home computer prepare videos for six shows across five accounts. I approve finished episodes and publication.

LEAN · DIGITALISATION · SOFTWARE

Bringing Lean, digitalisation and software together.

Practical experience

At Magna, I worked on digitising Lean practices and reporting savings. My work ranged from configuring systems and connecting data to preparing materials and training colleagues. Working with mLean later led me to build Gemba.

MANUFACTURING & PROCESS IMPROVEMENT

Lean specialist

Magna Exteriors Bohemia

At Magna, I implemented digital audits and corrective actions in mLean and connected them with databases and reporting. As the person responsible for Ignite, I contributed to aligning savings tracking across the corporation.

PROFESSIONAL PROJECTS

From factory experience to digital tools.

Magna · Savings reporting

Project Ignite

Ignite aligned how Magna tracked and reported savings across the corporation. As the person responsible for the project, I brought process design together with reporting and data entry.

  • I co-designed the path from an idea and its A3 documentation through approval to regular project tracking, building on plant standards and Ignite requirements.
  • I designed the solution in use with Power BI reporting built on the Ignite database and connected Power Apps; the shared report also included supplementary notes held separately in Microsoft Lists.
  • I prepared materials and presentations and trained people to use the solution; my design also included automated reports.

Magna · Lean digitalisation

mLean

Implementing mLean meant bringing the plant's Lean procedures into a digital environment. My work extended from configuration and data integration to reporting, training and ongoing maintenance.

  • I implemented 5S and LPA audits, safety and quality audits, gemba walks and corrective actions in mLean, connecting the digital environment with established plant procedures.
  • I configured the system, prepared visualisations and reports and handled all database connections within the solution.
  • I created materials and presentations, trained users and maintained the system; the experience of using it led me to design Gemba.

Magna · Toyota team project

SMED at our plant

At the plant where I worked, I took part in a Toyota team SMED project. I contributed preparation and support to the work on shortening die changes.

  • I helped prepare and support the Toyota team's SMED project at our plant.
  • The team's work included changes to the die-change procedure and how responsibilities were allocated among the people involved.
  • The team's changes cut the die-change time by approximately 20 minutes.

Workshops and other Lean projects

  • Makigami · Materials and production planning

    Magna · 3 days

During a three-day corporate workshop at Magna, I worked with colleagues from other divisions to optimise material ordering and production planning.

  • SMED · Press die change

    Cosma Formpol · 3 days

At Cosma Formpol, I attended a three-day practical SMED workshop. The team worked on speeding up die changes on a sheet-metal press.

  • ICG · Value stream

    Week-long training

The week-long ICG Value stream training included work on an assembly line for vehicle conversions. Our shared task was to find ways to speed up its flow.

  • Summer Lean Academy

    Week-long training

I attended the Summer Lean Academy, a week-long Lean training programme.

01

Manufacturing processes

I worked with 5S, LPA, safety and quality audits, gemba walks and corrective actions. SMED and Makigami workshops also helped me develop my experience with manufacturing processes.

02

Digitalisation in practice

I connected Lean procedures with databases, visualisations and reports, using Power BI, data entry in Power Apps and supplementary records in Microsoft Lists.

03

Helping people use the tools

I prepared supporting materials, training presentations and A3 documents. I trained people to use the tools and continued maintaining the solutions after implementation.

Earlier experience

Changhong Europe Electric

Invoicing and order processing

I worked on invoicing, accounting and administration, including processing orders in business systems.

Smarty CZ / iWant

Sales and customer advice

At the iWant store, I advised customers and delivered training.

Komerční banka

Client and administrative support

I supported a mortgage specialist, handled banking administration and worked with loan documentation.

Vibracoustic CZ

Quality administration support

I supported the quality team with manufacturing claims and worked with project documentation in SAP.

HOW I APPROACH PROJECTS

Experience, experimentation
and verifiable results.

01 / EXPERIENCE

Start with a real need.

Gemba grew out of my experience with Lean manufacturing and implementing and using mLean. I wanted a tool that supported my own way of working.

02 / CURIOSITY

Explore what technology can do.

HomeHub and Magic Camera explore local AI and spatial capture. I connect technical experiments with something I can use myself.

03 / VERIFICATION

Ask what the result actually proves.

For experiments, I save measurements and the conditions behind them. In Hermes, I refine briefs, handoffs and checks on specific deliverables.

iOS · Colony simulationGame core in development

Endless Frontier

In Endless Frontier, I am building a colony simulation with resource management and technological progression. The world also catches up with the time the app has been closed.

  • The game core is a standalone Swift package without a UI. It contains 1,622 tests that can be run with swift test without a simulator.
  • The world catches up based on elapsed time when the app opens. The same seed produces the same world.
  • Buildings, technologies and events are JSON data. Save-game migration is prepared in advance.

docs-forge

I gradually turned the way I manage documentation into a Claude Code plugin. I use it to check links, keep track of projects and hand over ongoing work.

  • The plugin brings together 7 workflows and 14 commands for checking documentation, reviewing project status and handing over work.
  • A findings register with derived status. A check fails the build if a new rule exists only in prose.
  • The standard grew from practices shared across Gemba, HomeHub and Endless Frontier. Adapters for Cursor and Codex.

Survival Hub

I am building Survival Hub as a guide I can read without an internet connection or print out. One source produces versions for a browser, iOS and paper.

  • Markdown produces HTML for any browser, a SQLite index for the iOS app and a printable PDF.
  • The build runs in plain Python with no external dependencies.
  • A parity check verifies that HTML and SQLite return the same results for the same query.

EARLIER RESEARCH / SEPTEMBER 2026

Local Agent Router

Before moving to Hermes, I explored how to choose a local AI model for a task and work within the computer’s memory limits. These are the results of those experiments. I now run tasks in Hermes with Kanban.
